Stained-glass inspiration

In my early twenties, I had the opportunity to visit Chartres Cathedral outside of Paris, an iconic example of French Gothic art. I stood gazing, along with so many other tourists, at the immense and awe-inspiring stained-glass artwork above. Vibrant blues, reds, and yellows…I had only imagined such a sight. When I began painting in my late thirties, I often returned to that scene in my mind, wondering if I could bring some of that luminosity into my work and express the spiritual essence of nature itself.
